Owly
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 June 2026
Owly is an event-planning app. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it — both for people who use the Owly app to plan events (“hosts”) and for guests who open the links hosts share (RSVP, registration, payment, booking, and photo-gallery pages).
Offline by default
Owly is offline-first. The events, tasks, guests, budgets and other information a host enters are stored on the host’s own device. They are only sent to our secure cloud when the host signs in and turns on Cloud features — such as sync, online RSVP, registration, payments, the photo gallery, or booking pages.
What we collect
Hosts (app users):
- Account details you provide when you sign in: name and email, and optionally a business/brand name, phone number, and profile photo.
- The event information you enter in the app (events, tasks, guests, vendors, budgets, documents). This stays on your device unless you enable Cloud.
Guests & visitors (shared web pages): when you use a link a host shares, we store only what that page needs:
- RSVP — your reply (going / maybe / can’t), headcount, and any note.
- Registration — your name, and if you provide them, email and phone; your party size; and, for paid events, the proof-of-payment image you upload.
- Payment requests — the proof-of-payment image and any note you add.
- Photo gallery — the photos you upload and the name you optionally attach.
- Booking — your name, and if you provide them, email and phone; the time you pick; and any note.
How we use it
We use this information only to provide the service — for example, to show your RSVP to the host, to issue your ticket, or to let the host verify a payment. We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Where it’s stored
Cloud data is stored securely with our cloud provider. Information you submit through a shared link is visible to the host who shared it (and to anyone that host gives access to). Proof-of-payment and gallery images are kept in cloud storage addressed by an unguessable link.
App permissions
The app may ask for: notifications (to remind you of tasks and events), camera (to scan QR tickets), contacts (read-only, to import a person you choose — nothing is written back to your phone), location (to set an event’s location), and storage (to attach files and photos). You can decline or revoke these in your device settings.
Keeping & deleting your data
Hosts can delete events, guests and other data in the app at any time. If you’re a guest and want your submission removed, contact the host who shared the link with you — they can delete it from their Owly app.
Children
Owly isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll change the “last updated” date above when we do.
